Reading is such an integral and enjoyable part of our homeschool life. In the Springtime, we love nothing more than heading outside with a picnic lunch and a stack of beautiful books. There is something especially immersive and magical about reading outdoors in the Spring.
We read about the Robin and observe them building their nest and singing their birdsong.
We read about the dandelion and watch them sprout, blossom, and go to seed.
We blow white dandelion puffs, make wishes, and help the wind to carry those seeds and our secret petitions to faraway places.
We read poems about the Flower Fairies and imagine them fluttering in the Daffodils and Wood Sorrel.
We read about the Monarch’s metamorphosis and migration and plant Milkweed in hopes they will visit us along their way.
Spring is such a wonder filled and abundant season. In this list I have included some of our very favorite books to read in the Spring. I hope you will consider some of them for your family library. I encourage you to pack a lunch, put on some sun hats, grab a few books and get outside with your kids.
As Edward Guest said, “Spring’s greatest joy beyond a doubt is when it brings the children out.”
Happy Spring Reading Everyone!
